fitme Journal: Assumptions

Have I ever shared with you how my week is set up?  This may not seem like a typical journal entry…but hear me out.

3 years ago, when I started fitme, I had no idea what we would grow into, but now we have a team of 11 coaches, 5 support staff and clients all over the country. I LOVE what I do… but running a business from home with 3 kids, 3 dogs and a husband who’s gone most of the time… well that has taken some practice and is still a work in progress.

But one of the most important things that helps me not lose my mind is how I structure my week.

Mondays are fitme team days. Staff and Coaches meetings.

Tuesdays and Thursday are coaching and mentorship days. I am on the phone most of the day.

Wednesdays are FREE days.  I can work on house projects or see friends or do appointments. Or if I want to work on fitme stuff, I can.

Fridays are writing and professional development days.   Making myself a better coach and leader.

I stick to this calendar pretty religiously. The organization means I can focus on the tasks of the day and not jump around. But it’s had an interesting impact on my physical body.

If I am not careful, I can easily spend most of the day on Mon/Tue/ Thur and Fri sitting on my butt in front of the computer.  Basically sedentary.

How did I build a business that helps people lose weight, feel better and get in more movement that at the same time requires me to get less?

But want to know the truth of it?  Sedentary is the assumption that I made. But recently I’ve had an epiphany. Coaching calls don’t have to be done in front of my computer. They can be outside… walking. Sedentary was a choice.

Ugh.  Nothing like a little tough love coaching looking in the mirror.

So- I’m writing to you today – Thursday – because it’s my coaching call day. I am committed to walking during these calls and hitting my 10k steps today.
